The Needles

Photo by Daniel SenieCountry Well uses only the thinnest, highest quality, pre-sterilized, FDA approved, single-insert needles which are made of gold or silver-plated surgical stainless-steel, or entirely of surgical stainless-steel depending on the technique required. Acupuncture needles are nearly hair-thin and the tip is smooth and solid, unlike the hollow and painful cutting edge of a hypodermic needle. What this means is that in the hands of a skilled acupuncturist, quick and shallow needle insertion results in minimal pain.  Often, the insertion is not felt at all.

As a client calms with trust in the practitioner, the skin relaxes to receive the needle. People often speak of a light pinch, brief tingling or warmth just as the needle tip contacts the energy/”qi” of the energy channel. And, there is no discomfort as one rests for a while with the needles in place, nor on their removal.

After the initial session, people look forward to receiving acupuncture. The treatment experience is commonly described as a feeling of heightened and expanded peacefulness or a sleepy, dreamy relaxation. Most leave the session in an easygoing manner, greatly changed from the way they entered.
